Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the questions families ask us most. Don’t see yours? Email director@carolinaforcelax.com.

Registration and Cost

How do I register, and is registration still open?

All current programs and registration links are here on our website. Registration runs through LeagueApps. If a program shows as closed or full, email director@carolinaforcelax.com and we’ll let you know what options are available.

How much does it cost?

Fees vary by program and season and are listed on each registration page in LeagueApps. Recreation programs are typically more affordable; travel programs include tournament fees.

Is there a sibling discount?

Yes. Email director@carolinaforcelax.com before you register, and we’ll send you a discount code.

Is financial help available?

Yes. Please reach out privately to director@carolinaforcelax.com. We never want cost to keep a child off the field.

What is the refund policy?

Every family’s situation is different, and we’ll always try to work with you. If you need to withdraw, email director@carolinaforcelax.com as soon as possible. If a program or team doesn’t have enough players to run, we’ll offer a full refund or a move to another program.

Age Groups and Teams

Which age group does my child play in?

We follow USA Lacrosse age guidelines. Check the 2026–27 USA Lacrosse age chart to find your player’s age group. Recreation and Fall Ball are open to 1st through 8th grade; travel runs through high school. Not sure? Email us your player’s grade and birth year and we’ll help.

What’s the difference between recreation and travel?

Recreation teams play local games around the Sandhills and Raleigh area, usually one or two games on a game weekend. It’s low pressure and perfect for beginners. Travel teams require tryouts, practice regularly, and play four to five games over a tournament weekend in places like Raleigh, Wilmington and Lake Norman. We try to pick tournament locations that feel like a mini vacation, so the whole family can have fun. Fall Ball is a short, small-sided program in the fall with lots of touches and less pressure.

Can my child play up an age group?

We typically do not allow players to play up.

Is it okay if my child has never played?

Absolutely. Most of our recreation players start with no experience, and our coaches teach the basics from scratch.

Equipment and Uniforms

What equipment does my child need?

Girls: a stick with a girls’ or women’s head, goggles (required), a mouthguard (required), cleats or athletic shoes, and gloves (optional but recommended).

Boys: a stick with a boys’ or men’s head, a helmet with face mask (required), shoulder pads, elbow pads, gloves, a mouthguard (required), and cleats or athletic shoes.

For more detail, see the USA Lacrosse Equipment Guide.

Do you have loaner equipment?

Yes, in limited quantities. Email director@carolinaforcelax.com with your player’s age group, sizes and what they need, and we’ll help you get started.

How do jerseys and numbers work?

Tournament team players keep their jersey number for as long as they play with the club. Recreation players don’t have assigned numbers, and jerseys generally run larger as the numbers go up.

Where can we get club gear?

We keep costs down by making Force swag in house. Bring your own shirts, shorts, sweatshirts or pants (cotton, blends or dry fit all work), bag and label them, and fill out the swag order form. There’s no charge for any item, though donations are always welcome. Drop-off days are announced in the weekly email.

Schedules and Fields

Where do I find the schedule?

Download the free LeagueApps Play app for iPhone or Android and sign in with the same email and password you used to register. You’ll see schedules for every family member on a Force team, plus locations, RSVPs and announcements. If your schedule isn’t showing, check that you’re signed in with the registration email, then email us if it’s still missing.

On tournament weekends, boys’ schedules are on Tourney Machine and girls’ schedules are on the tournament’s own site; links go out in the weekly email.

Where are practices and games?

Our primary home is the National Athletic Village, 201 Air Tool Dr, Southern Pines, NC 28387. Travel teams also practice at other Sandhills-area fields, which are listed in the LeagueApps Play app.

How will I know about weather cancellations?

Opt into Carolina Force text alerts. Texts are the fastest way we push last-minute weather, field and schedule changes. We’ll also update email and LeagueApps.

Getting Involved

How can I volunteer or coach?

Fill out our coach and volunteer application. All coaches certify as Bronze coaches through USA Lacrosse, and Carolina Force pays for your USA Lacrosse membership, which enrolls you in Bronze Certification automatically. Bronze covers a background check, abuse prevention training, cardiac care, concussion awareness, cultural competency and the annual rules test. Want to help without coaching? Use the same application, and watch the weekly email for volunteer sign-up sheets for clinics and events.

Who do I contact with other questions?
