Mae Wisch
Maelyn “Mae” Wisch, originally from Atlanta, Georgia, fell in love with lacrosse at age 11.
A lifelong athlete, Mae was a two-sport varsity competitor in volleyball and lacrosse, playing both through middle school, high school, and competitive travel club teams. While she loved the intensity of both sports, she quickly found her home on the defensive side of the game—believing that while offense may get the glory of victories, it’s a strong defense that truly seals the deal.
Mae’s passion for sport and competition carried into long-distance running, and in the summer of 2014, she ran across the country from San Francisco to Baltimore as part of a team raising money for the Ulman Cancer Foundation.
Professionally, Mae has spent a chunk of her career at the intersection of sports and storytelling. She’s held roles within the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee family, including time with USA Ultimate and, most notably, as the Communications Manager for the USA Hockey Women’s National Team.
Mae moved to the Land of the Pines a little over a year ago with her husband and their now 1.5-year-old son, and is thrilled to be back in the lax world with Carolina Force Lacrosse.
Off the field, you’ll usually find Mae chasing her toddler, working out alongside her husband, creating art, finding an excuse to be outside, or catching yet another rewatch of The Office.
